Tyler Blackett’s Debut for Manchester United

Tyler Nathan Blackett was born on 2nd April 1994. He is an English footballer who plays as a center-back or left-back for Manchester United.

The significant part of the achievement by this young and dynamic footballer was the fact that he was signed for Manchester United in the year 2002 when he was only eight years old. He is one of the most dynamic and athletic sportsmen to be selected to play for Manchester United.

Championship League

In the year 2013 on 1st November, he was signed for Championship club titled Blackpool as a loan for a month. He made his debut on a penultimate day for the Seasiders. The good thing was that he got an opportunity to showcase his talent for the whole 90 minutes of the match which Seasiders won 1-0 at Nottingham Forest. In the year 2013 December 5th his Blackett’s loan was extended by Blackpool up till 1st January 2014.

Next was the turn of Birmingham City who signed Blackett on a youth loan until the end of the season. With his teamwork with Manchester United loanee Tom Thorpe, Blackett tripped Will Hughes to concede a penalty which Darren Randolph put away. Birmingham fought their way back from 3-1 down to draw the match.

Next Blackett got an opportunity to make his competitive debut for Manchester United on 16th August 2014. In the first match of the 2014-15 Premier League season, Blackett played for the whole 90 minutes for a losing cause as Manchester United lost 2-1 to Swansea City.

International Representation

Blackett made his international debut in September 2009 when he was called for the England U16 squad for the 2009 Victory Shield match against Wales. On 15th October, he initiated the 1-0 win against Wales but was substituted by Alex Henshall a few minutes before half-time. Blackett got an opportunity once again when he was asked to join the squad for the final Victory Shield match against Scotland in November 2009. He replaced Sam Magri in the 69th minute as England won 2-1 at the Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh. That was the ninth straight win for England in Victory Shield.

Blackett then got an opportunity to play in the England U17 squad for the Algarve Tournament in the year February 2011. He commenced England’s opening match of the tournament on February 24 playing for the entire 90 minutes and salvaging a 1-1 draw against Romania. He acted as an unused substitute during the 3-1 defeat against Germany but was recalled for a match against Portugal wherein he replaced Alex Henshall in the 76th minute to salvage a draw 2-2. In the year 2011, November he was asked to make a sort of comeback and play for England U18 squad for a friendly match against Slovakia. He commenced with a 1-1 draw against Slovakia before being replaced by Courtney Meppen-Walter in the 65th minute.

He was firmly placed in the team for the next match against Poland, a friendly match in February 2012. He came in half-time and played a major role in the 3-0 victory at the Alexandra Stadium. He was again invited to play against Germany this time for the U-19 team and it was also a friendly match.

On 6th September the game commenced and played for the entire 90 minutes but England lost that match by 3-1, but that did not deter the confidence of Blackett he was shown confidence by the coach and made his next international presence in a friendly encounter with Denmark in January 2013. He commenced the match but was soon replaced by Lewis Baker in the 67th minute as England won the match by 3-1 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Promising Qualities

The other qualities that make Tyler Blackett a promising start for Manchester United is the fact that he has good height and powerful physique. He has been with the Manchester United club since he was eight and this has made him stronger to rise through the ranks in the club. The other notable facet of Tyler Blackett is the fact that he joined the United academy when he was just eight.

At 6ft 2 inches he is contented to either playing as a centre-back or left-back. He has also won FA Youth Cup at United in the year 2011. The other cool feature of this talented young boy is the fact that he has represented England at every age group between Under 16 and Under 19.

Commitment

This former England youth international has played in more Academy games than any of his peers in the year 2011/12 and has added the repertoire of getting more free-kicks than any individual. He has also scored one such-set piece in the FA Youth Cup at Swansea City.

Now the only thing to be seen is whether Tyler Blackett can grab the opportunity that has been offered to him by both hands and come on top by displaying his vast talent on the big stage. Only time will tell but many reputed footballers of the past have backed this young talent to come through and showcase his talent on the big stage.
